Basil
Uses:
Most commonly, basil is used in Italian cooking to season tomato and olive oil sauces, pastas, pizzas and breads. Add to soups, salads and marinades for a boost of flavor. It is also a great salad sprinkle with Balsamic vinegar in place of high-calorie dressings. Mix basil, garlic powder and butter for a great spread. Rub on poultry before grilling or broiling. Toss vegetable with olive oil, basil, garlic powder and oregano before roasting in the oven. Add basil to old potpourri for instant freshness.
Storage:
Basil should be stored in an airtight container to maintain its aroma and flavor. Away from heat and light is always best.
